CBD vs. Hemp Oil

by | Feb 1, 2020 | OXZGEN

One of the biggest challenges people face when shopping online for herbal supplements is validating the authenticity of the product. Advertisements can often be misleading and it’s not unusual for the consumer to discover that the purchased product does not contain the expected ingredients. You may see products claiming to be certified CBD when in fact they are later found to contain Hemp Oil. What’s the difference anyways?

Hemp Oil comes from cold-pressed hemp seeds.  It does not contain CBD (Cannabidiol) or interact with your body’s Endocannabinoid System and is therefore not a replacement for cannabidiol.  Hemp Oil is essentially an omega-rich supplement so is traditionally used for cooking, as a base for plastics, and is commonly found in lotions & soaps.  It is also found in detergents.

On the other hand, CBD is derived from both flowers and leaves of the cannabis plant. It does not contain psychoactive THC which produces the “high” associated with cannabis aka marijuana.  To be considered THC FREE, CBD products must contain <0.3% THC. CBD interacts with your Endocannabinoid System (ECS) and promotes health and wellness and is commonly found in topical creams, tinctures, and capsules.

With this new understanding, how do you know the difference?

Reputable companies like OXZGEN use CBD that comes from hemp farms across the United States of America and contains <0.05% THC and D9 THC.
